Our favourite restaurants & eateries!🍴🥘🍛

🍽️ The Blue Lion – Cwm
A fog friendly hidden gem with history, great views, and hearty food
Tucked away in the hills of Cwm, The Blue Lion is a beautifully refurbished country pub and restaurant offering stunning views across the Vale of Clwyd and the Snowdonia mountains. Reopened in 2022 after a full renovation, this historic spot now blends traditional character with a modern, welcoming feel – perfect for relaxed meals with family and friends.
What makes The Blue Lion stand out is its commitment to fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Their experienced chefs prepare everything from scratch, and the menu is full of comforting, home-cooked favourites. It’s the kind of place where you can truly slow down and enjoy a proper meal in beautiful surroundings.
The Blue Lion is also dog-friendly, with a dedicated bar area for guests bringing their four-legged companions, and the team is known for their genuinely warm hospitality.
But this pub isn’t just known for its food and views — it’s steeped in Welsh history. Believed to be the second-oldest free house in Wales, the building dates back to the early 17th century and was originally used to house monks. Local legend even whispers of an underground tunnel leading to the nearby churchyard and monks buried within the snug’s thick stone walls.
Whether you’re drawn in by the menu, the history, or the peaceful location, The Blue Lion is well worth a visit.

🔥 Hickories Smokehouse – Rhos on Sea.
Smokehouse favourites right here in North Wales
Inspired by a road trip across America’s Southern states, Hickory’s Smokehouse brings the bold, smoky flavours of classic barbecue right to the UK — and lucky for us, there’s one right here in North Wales.
The story began with a culinary journey through over 70 towns and cities across the Deep South. From baby back ribs in Memphis to burnt ends in Kansas City, the team behind Hickory’s fell in love with the food, the people, and the tradition of Southern hospitality. That passion turned into a mission: to recreate an authentic BBQ experience back home.
Since opening their first restaurant in Chester in 2010 — exactly one year after that first American road trip — Hickory’s has been serving up slow-cooked meats, comforting sides, and that warm, welcoming vibe you’d expect from a true smokehouse.
Expect low and slow-cooked barbecue, ice-cold beers, milkshakes, and a laid-back family-friendly atmosphere. Whether you’re going for a full rack of ribs or just popping in for a bourbon and brisket sandwich, you’re in for a proper feast.
If you’re craving a taste of the States, Hickory’s is a must-visit — just bring your appetite!

🍛 The Village Masala – Rhuddlan.
Your go-to spot for authentic Indian cuisine
Located in the heart of Rhuddlan, Village Massala has earned its reputation as the town’s premier Indian restaurant, and for good reason. Whether you’re dining in or ordering a takeaway, this vibrant and welcoming spot promises an unforgettable taste of authentic Indian flavours.
At Village Massala, only the freshest ingredients make it into the kitchen. The chefs prepare every dish with daily-sourced produce, so you can truly taste the difference – from rich, traditional curries and sizzling tandoori plates to fragrant biryanis and freshly baked naan.
If you’re after a cosy night in, their takeaway menu is packed with favourites and available for collection — no compromise on quality or flavour.
Whether you’re new to Indian cuisine or a curry connoisseur, Village Massala is a must-visit while staying in or around Rhyl.

While food is a big draw, the new market also includes retail units and event spaces, and it’s set to become a central hub for the town — with entertainment, pop-ups and more planned throughout the year.
